Security

The administrative interface within defenderData is very complete.  One of the most important aspects of this administrative system is the creation and maintenance of system users and their respective security permissions.  Security is handled from two different perspectives; first, those capabilities available within the core application, and second, security related to the data available to the user through the application.

In order to handle security for the application interface itself, groups are created that typically represent individual roles within the office.  For example, groups like "attorney", "administrator", "secretary", "investigator", and "receptionist" might be created.  Within those individual groups, you can control which buttons, fields, and screens that the users in those groups will be able to access.

The system also allows for data security rules to be defined based on the type of case (such as "felony" or "misdemeanor") as well as the attorney assigned to the case.  This combination of security allows each user to be given access and allowed to change only that information that corresponds to the division and attorney(s) that they work with.  Additionally these security levels can be overridden by an administrator at the case level if necessary.

Permissions to individual calendars can also be defined and managed within the security screen.
